The Los Angeles Kings host the Edmonton Oilers at the Crypto.com Arena for this Pacific division clash in the NHL. Both teams have already qualified for the Stanley Cup playoffs with only a handful of games remaining in the regular season. There could still be some movement among the three already qualified Pacific teams however, with only four points separating the first-place Golden Knights and the third-place Oilers. Edmonton trail their opponents today by only one point and can leapfrog them into second-place with a win. The Oilers are one of the hottest teams in the NHL and come into this matchup having won their last five games on the bounce. Since March, Edmonton has ripped off 13 wins from 16 games. Their last game resulted in a 6-0 shutout win over the Ducks at home and they come into this showdown with LA with three days rest.
The Kings will look to put some breathing space between themselves and the third-place Oilers to lock down second-place in the Pacific division with a win today. Los Angeles’ last game finished in a 4-1 away win over Vancouver, representing the team’s second consecutive win after a 3-1 away win over the Kraken the night prior. They have two days of rest in preparation for a rematch with Edmonton, who they lost to away from home on the 30th of March, failing to get on the scoreboard as they faded to a 2-0 final score. The Kings have won their last three on their home ice and will hope for another victory as they return to the Crypto.com Arena following a four game road trip. LA have won seven of their last 10 games, with two defeats and the other ending in an overtime loss.
