Los Angeles Kings vs Colorado Avalanche Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL
by Matthew Newman | in NHL Predictions
The Central division leading Colorado Avalanche continues their California road trip with a visit to the Los Angeles Kings who sit third in the Pacific division. The Avs played last night against the Anaheim Ducks, losing in overtime, while the Kings have had a couple of days off between games. Home cooking has not been a help to the Kings who have only won four at home all season compared to nine on the road. They will play six of their next seven after this game on the road which will test their record. Winners of five straight before a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Washington Capitals on their home ice when last in action four days ago, they have had plenty of time to stew on a game where they outshot their opponents 39-15. No team has conceded fewer goals than the Kings (49) but they lost 5-2 to the Avs when they met in their opening game of the season back in October.
As mentioned, the Avs played last night in Anaheim but they are 10-3 in the second half of a back to back since the start of last season so they have the mental and physical strength to overcome that. They will be hoping that they can tap back into the groove that saw them off to the perfect start to their season in this building. It's a credit to the team that they have been as competitive as they have been when they are missing their captain Gabriel Landeskog for the entire season. He scored 30 goals last season which is a big hole to fill, led in points this season by Cale Makar. The blue liner is picking up points quicker than any defenceman in history with 280 in his first 260 games in the NHL. He has been a thorn in the side of the Kings, picking up 12 points in his last six games against them. His control of the puck, especially on the powerplay, should lead to goals.
