Los Angeles Kings vs Calgary Flames Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL
by Matthew Newman | in NHL Predictions
The 14-14-3 Calgary Flames finish their two-game California swing at the 18-7-4 Los Angeles Kings in the early hours of Christmas Eve. Crypto.com Arena has been a kryptonite for the Kings to this point in the campaign with just 13 of their 40 points coming on home ice. They are set up as an incredibly strong defensive force which works brilliantly when they are on the road but fans in Los Angeles will be hoping that they can figure out a strategy to get the results in southern California as well. Three of their last four home games have ended with defeat and things don't get any easier with the Flames coming to town. Two weeks ago, this would have looked an easier game, but Calgary has won three straight and even their last three losses before that were all strong performances. There is little doubt that pound for pound, the Kings are the team to beat but they have blown hot and cold in their last 10 games, only finding the net eight times in their last four home games combined.
The Flames played an excellent road game in Anaheim in the early hours of Friday morning, beating the Ducks 3-0 without really ever looking in any trouble. They had looked comfortable beating the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers in the Saddledome prior to that to produce their first three-game winning streak of the season. Although they lost their three away games before Anaheim, the Minnesota Wild had to go to penalty shots to see them off, the Vegas Golden Knights were taken to overtime and the Colorado Avalanche had to dig deep to beat them 6-5 after trailing 5-3 going into the final period. Coach Ryan Huska has got the team rolling now with Yegor Sharangovich looking a great addition from the New Jersey Devils. The disappointment continues to be Jonathan Huberdeau who was very smart as a Panther but has struggled badly since moving north of the border. If he can find his form eventually, that would make the Flames a very dangerous proposition.
