An NL West rivalry sees the division leading LA Dodgers host the third-place San Francisco Giants. Los Angeles have a comfortable 13.5 game lead in the division and will finish atop the pile for the second straight season. The Dodgers have put together the second-best record in the NL with 94 wins and 59 losses. They dropped the second game of this series 5-1 their last time out but have overall been on a very strong run of form. LA have won seven of their last 10 as they enter the third game of this four game series against their division rivals. The Dodgers will start this game with ace Clayton Kershaw on the mound. Kershaw is 12-4 on the season with a fantastic ERA of only 2.52. His last start saw him pitch only four innings but he kept a shutout during that time and gave up only two hits.

The Giants have an outside shot at stealing the final Wild Card spot and sneaking into the MLB Postseason. However, they’ll have to dramatically turn around their form and be near perfect in the run-in. San Francisco have split this series 1-1 so far with the Dodgers after the aforementioned 5-1 game two win. The victory snapped a three game losing streak for San Francisco and it was only their third win in the previous 10 games. The Giants are certainly up against it here as they pit their poor road form against the superb home record of the Dodgers. No official starter has been named for San Fran but they are expected to go with Ross Stripling. The 33-year-old is 0-5 on the year and is sporting an ERA of 5.40.
