Los Angeles got their World Series charge off to a great start by taking the first game of the series by a score of 5-3 and come in as the oddsmakers’ favorites to take a commanding lead. The Dodgers were the toast of the MLB in the regular season, finishing with a league best 111-51 record and a massive 22 games ahead of their opponents today in the NL West. Clayton Kershaw gets the start for the home team after posting a 12-3 regular season record with an ERA of 2.28. The legendary lefty is coming off a five inning, one earned run, nine strikeout outing in his last start.

Darvish has been lights out vs the Dodgers this season which is especially impressive given the LA lineup is likely the best in baseball. Kershaw starting for the Dodgers makes things tough but at least this Padres lineup has looked much improved against lefties in the past month. This should be a close game and the Padres come into this one as live dogs with Darvish on the mound.
