Week eight in the NFL sees a Sunday Night Football clash between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Chicago Bears. The AFC West third-place Chargers face a must-win spot if they are to keep their playoff hopes alive as they currently have a record of two wins and four losses. The Bears, meanwhile, sit fourth in the NFC North with a record of two wins and five defeats. Los Angeles needs a win here if they are to stop the bleeding and prevent the playoff positions from getting too far away from them. They come into this matchup off the back of two consecutive losses after falling 20-17 to the Cowboys and 31-17 to the Chiefs. The Chargers have played a tough schedule, playing two division leaders and a Cowboys team that is 4-2. Additionally, three of LA’s losses have come by a margin of three points or fewer. There’s certainly been some negative variance for Brandon Staley’s team but they have a golden opportunity to right the ship here.

The Bears come into this contest on a positive run of form after finally stringing together some encouraging results. After an 0-4 start to the season, Chicago have now pulled their record back to 2-5 following their most recent 30-12 win over the Raiders. The victory means that the Bears have now won two of their previous three outings after also beating the Commanders 40-20 at the beginning of the month. Following Justin Fields’ injury against the Vikings, the Bears turned to rookie QB Tyson Bagent who got his first official start against the Raiders. He played excellently to guide his team to the win, throwing for 162 yards on 21 completions and a touchdown. The Chicago defense has also been much better in recent weeks and will need to be at their best here to slow down Justin Herbet.
