Los Angeles Angels vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB
by Joseph King | in MLB Predictions
An interleague matchup in Major League Baseball on Saturday night sees the AL West third-place Los Angeles Angels hosting NL West leading Arizona Diamondbacks. This is the second of a three game series between the two teams with the Diamondbacks winning the first outing 6-2 on Friday. It was the third consecutive loss for the LA Angels who will attempt to get back to winning ways to avoid losing any more ground in the playoff hunt. The Angels sit four games above .500, putting them six games behind the AL West leading Rangers and two games behind the Astros for the final Wild Card spot. It hasn’t been a good run for LA who have now dropped seven of their last 10. They’ll send out Tyler Anderson to the mound who is 4-2 on the season with an ERA of 5.54. The lefty is coming off a decent start against the Rockies, lasting six innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out nine.
The Diamondbacks were able to put an end to a two game slide with the win over the Angels in game one. They’ll look for another road win here to improve their already stellar .641 away winning percentage on the year. Arizona is maintaining a slim lead atop the NL West as they currently lead the second-place Dodgers by two games and the third-place Giants by 2.5 games. These are two of the better hitting teams in the league facing off as the Diamondbacks rank sixth in team OPS at .766 while the Angels rank fourth at .778. Arizona will start with Ryne Nelson who is 4-4 on the year with a 4.98 ERA. Nelson is coming off an excellent showing in his last start, going seven innings and giving up just one earned run in a 5-2 win over the Giants. Nelson has been excellent when pitching away from home and the Diamondbacks have won four of the last five games when he is the starting pitcher as the visiting team.

Our Los Angeles Angels vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction
The Diamondbacks have been hitting lefties better in the last 30 days than they had in the beginning of the season which bodes well for them ahead of this matchup. Tyler Anderson hasn’t been too reliable this season despite LA's 9-5 record in games where he starts. Ryan Nelson, meanwhile, has looked a completely different player when he starts as the visiting pitcher. Combined with Arizona’s excellent away performance overall this year has us liking their chances to get the victory. Our Los Angeles Angels vs Arizona Diamondbacks prediction is for the Diamondbacks to win.
