Lorenzo Sonego vs Andy Murray Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Qatar Open
by Devesh Jaganath in Tennis Predictions
The Round of 32 in the ATP Qatar Open is set to get underway on Monday, and in our featured match, we will see the Italian Lorenzo Sonego prepare to do battle against the UK’s Andy Murray in what should be an entertaining match in the opening round of the tournament. Murray’s year got off to the worst possible start losing in straight sets to Sebastian Korda in the opening round of the Adelaide International. He then went into the Australian Open and looked a little better in his first match against Mateo Berrettini but required the full five sets to emerge with the victory. Murray followed up with another win in a five-set thriller against Thanasi Kokkinakis in round two but then bowed out to Roberto Bautista in the third round in four sets. This will be his first match since that loss, and he will see this tournament as the perfect opportunity to earn his first piece of silverware for the year.
Lorenzo Sonego has also begun 2023 in poor fashion and was unable to make it past the first round of his first two tournaments. At the Adelaide International, Sonego retired hurt in just the second set of his first match against Daniil Medvedev and then lost to Jack Draper in the opening round of the following torunmanet a few weeks later. Sonego went on to compete at the Australian Open and showed some improvement by registering his first match win of the year over Nuno Borges in the first round but found the challenge of Hubert Huracz too much, losing to the Pole in the second round. His best performance to date followed, reaching the quarter-final of the Open Sud de France by overcoming Benjamin Bonzi and Filip Krajinovic but he was unable to maintain that form in Rotterdam, where he suffered a first-round defeat to Felix Auger Aliassime.

Our Lorenzo Sonego vs Andy Murray Prediction
Murray comes into this match after a month-long break following a decent performance at the Australian Open. This is a tournament that he has done well in historically, lifting the trophy on two occasions in the past. Sonego has been stuttering this year and has failed to get past the first round of this tournament in his two attempts. While Murray may be somewhat past his prime, he is still tricky enough to give any player a run for their money on his day, and we expect him to do just that in this match. Our Lorenzo Sonego v Andy Murray prediction is a win for Murray.
