Lorenzo Musetti and Stefanos Tsitsipas will square off for the third time in their careers when the pair meet in the semi-final of the ATP Barcelona Open on Saturday afternoon. Ranked fifth in the world, Tsitsipas has improved on the clay surface this year, reaching the quarter-final in Monte Carlo, and now has his sights set on going all the way to earn his first title of the year. Despite maintaining a solid record of 19-5 for the year, the Greek has found it difficult to re-create the form he showed at the Australian Open, with this being his first semi-final appearance since then. Here in Barcelona, Tsitsipas beat Pedro Cachin in the tournament opener and followed up with solid displays against Denis Shapovalov and Alex De Minaur, beating them all in straight sets. Tsitsipas has beaten Musetti twice on this surface in the past, and three times in total, with the most recent win coming in the first round of the French Open last year. The Greek will fancy his chances of extending that record in this one. 

Ranked 20th in the world, Musetti comes into this tournament after an impressive showing at the Monte Carlo Masters less than two weeks ago. The Italian reached the quarter-final stages beating the likes of Miomir Kecmanovic in the tournament opener, but more impressively, he went on to overcome Novak Djokovic in the Round of 16, beating the number one seed in a hard-fought three-set thriller. Here in Barcelona, the Italian has already taken down Cameron Norrie and Jannik Sinner, though the latter withdrew from the tournament in the quarter-final. Musetti had a solid clay court season last year with a record of 21-7 and is currently 7-5 this year, but will need to pull off another huge upset in this one to progress.
