Lorenzo Musetti vs Mariano Navone Prediction & Betting Tips - Olympic Tournament

Lorenzo Musetti has been in great form in recent weeks. Can he win a medal at the Paris Olympics? The 11th seed takes on unseeded Mariano Navone in his second match of the tournament. Here's our prediction.

Musetti broke French hearts in round one when beating Gael Monfils in straight sets. The Italian is the world number 16, just one place below his career-high. He had a busy weekend because the day before beating Monfils, he lost on clay to Francisco Cerundolo in the Umag final.

The 22-year-old has reached at least the semi-final in each of the last four tournaments he's played. Three were on grass but he's shown good form on clay too. Before Umag, he got to two Challenger Tour finals. One was in Cagliari and it was Navone who beat him.

This is his second time in the Olympics but Sunday's win was his first victory. His other appearance was in Tokyo three years ago when being beaten in the first round. The winner of this match takes on either seventh seed Taylor Fritz or unseeded Jack Draper.

Mariano Navone is at 37th in the latest rankings. The Argentinian is eight places behind the career-high he achieved last month. He was outside the top 120 when this year began but has had great success in 2024, mostly on clay.

Navone made it to the final in Rio, the last four in Marrakech and then another final in Bucharest. Aside from the Challenger Tour win in Cagliari, his form did dip though. He only won one out of seven matches before the recent Gstaad clay event where he lost in his second match.

Round one of this tournament saw him beat Nuno Borges for the loss of four games. We tip Musetti to win this in straight sets.
