Sixth seeded Casper Ruud takes on 26th seed Lloyd Harris in the third round at Indian Wells. The winner of this match will face either 11th seeded Diego Schwartzmann or 18th seed Daniel Evans. Ruud is the world number ten but up to ninth in the live rankings. He's eighth in the ATP Live Race and bidding to make it into the end-of-season Tour Finals. He'll go up to seventh if winning this match against Harris. Ruud has won five titles this year, most recently the San Diego Open title on October 3. That was an important win for him as it shows he's more than just a very good clay court player. This week has seen him beat Roberto Caballes Baena, losing just three games. He's had one previous match against Harris. That was in 2019, he won the first set 6-1 after which Harris retired.

Lloyd Harris has had a breakthrough year. He started 2021 in 87th place,dropping down to 92 before rising up the rankings. He's currently the world number 31 and 20th in terms of ranking points earned this year. He beat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the second round (first round bye received) and that's taken him into the top 30 in the live rankings. Highlights of this year have included reaching the final in Dubai and the last eight in Halle and Washington. He then got to the quarter finals of the US Open, his best ever Grand Slam result. He's up against an in-form opponent here though and the tip is for Ruud to get the win.
