Lithuania vs Serbia Prediction & Betting Tips - Basketball World Cup
by Joseph King | in Basketball World Cup Predictions
The 2023 FIBA World Cup enters the quarter-final stage with Lithuania taking on Serbia at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila. The winner of this contest will advance to the semi-finals to take on either Luka Doncic’s Slovenia or Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Canada. It’s been a fantastic tournament for Lithuania who, along with Germany, are the only unbeaten team remaining in this competition. The Lithuanians cruised through their initial group stage, recording 20+ point wins over Egypt, Mexico and Montenegro. The next group stage saw them defeat Greece by 25 and pick up a historic 110-104 win over the United States in their most recent outing. It was a phenomenal performance as Lithuania matched the United States’ firepower and dominated them on the boards. The victory means that Lithuania have now won their last eight games in a row. Their last defeat came at the hands of France in a pre-tournament warm-up fixture.
Serbia haven’t made quite the stir that their opponents today have but they are still having a fine tournament in their own right. They progressed through the first group stage with a perfect three wins from three to go along with an average winning margin of 30 points per game. The Serbians faced their first and only defeat of the tournament against Italy in the second group phase where they would lose a nail-biter 78-76. They would respond strongly with a 112-79 win over the Dominican Republic in their most recent outing to secure their passage to this stage of the tournament. The victory was the second-highest points total that Serbia has put up at this competition, as they shot an incredible 85% on their two-point field goals and 65% from the field overall. The Eagles have now won eight of their last 10 games overall with their two losses during that stretch both coming against Italy.

Our Lithuania vs Serbia Prediction
The bookmakers are clearly expecting a closely contested matchup here with both teams nearly even on the moneyline. While both Eastern European countries have impressed at this tournament, it’s been the play of the Lithuanians that has really stood out. Their 110-104 win over the tournament favorites in the USA could act as a catalyst to inspire a possible run to the final. If they can keep up their hot shooting from three and if Serbians continue to run cold from downtown, Lithuania should be able to edge this one. Our Lithuania vs Serbia prediction is for Lithuania to win.
