We'll have an unseeded teenage player in the semi-finals of the Brisbane International. That's because Mirra Andreeva takes on Linda Noskova with the winner facing either second seed Elena Rybakina or 11th seeded Anastasia Potapova. Noskova is again going well down under after her run to the final of the Adelaide International in 2023. That took her into the world's top 100 though it was disappoining when the Czech then lost in the first qualifying round of the Australian Open. The 19-year-old also mad it to a hard court final in Prague but is under pressure in this tournament. All those ranking points earned in Adelaide are about to disappear and after starting the tournament ranked 40th is now 57th. A win over Andreeva will take her up to 51st place. So far in Brisbane, Noskova has won three matches and all of them went to a final set. The tenth seeded Soryana Cirstea was beaten in round two and the last round saw her beat qualifier Julia Riera.

Mirra Andreeva was ranked 58th at the start of this tournament, 12 places below her career high of 46th. That was achieved in November of last year and in the live rankings Andreeva is now 47th. Beating Noskova will see her set a new career high of 41st. The 16-year-old won two ITF singles events last year but both were on clay and this is a hard court tournament. There was success on this surface though and in October she reached the last 16 of the China Open beating Barbora Krejcikova and taking Elena Rybakina to three sets. Three hard court ITF tournaments have been won by the promising Russia. This event has seen her in top form with three matches won and all in straight sets. Fourth seeded Liudmila Samsonova was beaten in round two and we tip her to beat Noskova in straight sets.
