Liam Broady, seeded fourth, will seek to become the first player to win multiple titles at the Biel Challenger Tour event. The first round sees him up against unseeded Viktor Durasovic. This will be the first-ever match between the two players and will be played on an indoor hard court. Liam Broady, ranked 142nd in the world, won the first edition of this tournament in 2021 and is among the favourites to win it this year. The Brit already has a title in the bag this season. He won the Challenger Vilnius in an emphatic fashion without dropping a set in the entire tournament. He followed that up by rising from the qualifiers to make the second round of the Qatar Open where he would be eliminated by eventual champion Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. Broady arrives in Biel after making the quarterfinals in Lugano.

Viktor Durasovic is ranked 186 places below Broady in the world rankings and is making his debut in this tournament. He too arrives in Biel after taking part in the Lugano Challenger where he was unable to make it out of the qualifying rounds. Durasovic has struggled to get it going this season and has won six of the 15 matches he has played. The winner in this meeting will proceed to the second round where a tie with the unseeded duo of either Omar Jasika or Maximilian Neuchrist awaits.
