Leylah Annie Fernandez vs Mirra Andreeva Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Hong Kong Open

World number 48 Mirra Andreeva will take on 58th-ranked Leylah Fernandez in the round of 16 at the WTA Hong Kong Open on Thursday. The winner of this match will move on to face either Alina Korneeva or Linda Fruhvirtova in the quarter-final. This is the second time these two will meet this year, with Andreeva winning the previous match on the clay court. She comes into this tournament after a good showing in Beijing a couple of weeks ago. The Russian got through the qualifying rounds well and reached the last 16, recording a big win over Barbora Krejcikova in the opening round. Here in Hong Kong, she beat Dayana Yastremska in the last round and is now 36-8 for the year. Andreeva has only played ten matches on the hard surface this season, but she does have a positive record of 7-3. 

Meanwhile, Fernandez did not fare as well in Beijing. She was knocked out in her first qualification match by Eva Lys. The Canadian arguably got a slice of luck in the last round of this tournament when she was drawn against the number one seed Victoria Azarenka. However, Azarenka retired hurt in the final set. While her form in the last four weeks has not been the best, Fernandez did reach the last eighty in Mexico at the start of last month. In that competition, she overcame the likes of Emma Navarro and Elise Mertens before she was knocked out by Sofia Kenin. Fernandez is now 30-23 for the year and 21-15 on the hard surface. Despite being the underdog in this match, the Canadian cannot be ruled out just yet.
