Leylah Annie Fernandez vs Magda Linette Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Charleston Open

Seventh seeded Leylah Fernandez bids to reach the last 16 of the Charleston Open. The Canadian takes on Magda Linette from Poland, who is ranked 45 places below her. This is a clay court tournament and the winner of this match will have a last 16 tie against either Kaia Kanepi or Magdalena Frech, both of whom are unseeded. Fernandez began this week ranked a career high 19th in the world. The 2021 US Open finalist has won one tournament so far this year. That was a WTA 250 event held in Monterrey, Mexico. Fernandez got to the last 16 in Indian Wells but lost in the last 64 in Miami. Fernndez won the French Open Junior Grand Slam title three years ago and the third round of the senior event in 2020, so has had success on this surface. 

Magda Linette is the world number 64 but was as low as 71st in February. Her highest ever ranking is 33rd achieved two years ago. 2022  The Pole won five clay tournaments on the ITF circuit, four of them 12 years ago and the last of them six years ago. That level of success hasn't been repeated on the WTA Tour. Her best performance in the French Open is reaching the third round. In terms of ranking points earned this year, Linette is 72nd, compared to  her opponents 30th position. There were problems for Linette in the first round of this tournament. Linette had to come from a set down to beat Katie Volynets who is ranked 154th. She's had one previous match against Fernandez and that was on clay. Fernandez beat Linette three sets in the 2020 French Open. Go for Fernandez to win this.
