Leylah Annie Fernandez vs Caroline Garcia Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Indian Wells

We're at the third round stage of the Indian Wells tournament with players battling it out for a place in the last 16. Fifth seeded Caroline Garcia takes on Leylah Fernandez who is the 30th seed. The winner of this match will face either Bernada Pera or Sorana Cirstea in the next round, both of whom are unseeded. Garcia began this tournament ranked fifth in the rankings. If the French player wins this match and Ons Jabeur loses to Marketa Vondrousova, she'll move up to a career high fourth. It's been a good start to the year for Garcia with two fimals reached in Lyon and Monterrey though both were lost. Earlier in 2023, Garcia got to the last 16 of the Australian Open and the 29-year-old is currently tenth in the Live WTA Race. This week has seen her have to go to three sets (middle set lost on a tie-break) to lucky loser Dalmi Galfi.

Leylah Fernandez began this week ranked 49th but is the 30th seed for the Indian Wells tournament. The Canadian has made an inconsistent start to the new year. Only one quarter final has been reached. That was in Hobart but no top 90 ranked players were beaten. Fernandez lost in the second round of the Australian Open and has only got to one Grand Slam quarter final since reaching the US Open final in 2021. It was Caroline Garcia who beat her in straight sets down under. That's the only match the pair have had so far. Fernandez beat wild card Emma Navarro in the second round of this tournament after receiving a first round bye. Garcia looks in the better form and can get the win.
