Lesia Tsurenko vs Lucia Bronzetti Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Mutua Madrid Open

Lesia Tsurenko is the worthy favourite to beat Lucia Bronzetto in the first round of the Madrid Open. The winner of this match will take on the 25th seeded Jil Tiechmann in the second round of this outdoor clay court tourament. Tsurenko is ranked 77th in the world but was as high as 23rd four years ago. The 33-year-old is playing her second clay court event of the year. The other was in Charleston where after winning her first round match for the loss of just two games, she lost in straight sets to Ons Jabeur. Her best performance at the French Open has been reaching the fourth round in 2018. A win over Bronzetti will see her get to the second round in Madrid for the first time. This is the first time she's faced her opponent.

Lucia Bronzetti began this tournament ranked 97th in the world but was a career high 50th in January of this year after winning three matches in the United Cup team event. Her performances in singles tournaments weren't good though with her first seven matches of the year all being lost. That terrible run ended with a run to the final of an ITF tournament held in France, though she didn't beat anyone in the top 350. The Italian began her clay court season with a disappointing result in Switzerland being beaten in her first match by Andrea Lazaro Garcia in three sets. The first set was won but Bronzetti still ended up losing to a player who was ranked 342nd at the time. Bronzetti has never got past the first round of this tournament but will hope to try and find the form that saw her lose in the final of a WTA clay court event held in Palermo, Italy last year.
