Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad headline UFC 304 at the Co-op Live in Manchester on Sunday morning. The UFC welterweight champion Edwards enters the match with a record of 22-3-0, 1NC, while the challenger holds a record of 23-3-0, 1NC. Here’s our prediction for this main event. 

Edwards and Muhammad will face off for the second time in their UFC careers, with their first matchup coming in 2021 on the UFC Apex card. That match sadly ended after just 18 seconds round two when Muhammad suffered an accidental eye poke that ended the fight. 

Since then, Edwards went on to win the welterweight title in 2022 by defeating Kamaru Usman with an incredible head kick knockout and also defended his title against the Nigerian-American mixed martial artist. 

The Brit has the height and reach advantage in this bout and is three years younger than his opponent. He will also have the majority of the fans inside the Co-op Live behind him to watch his devastating striking power. 

Given that both these fighters can certainly pack a punch, most pundits are expecting that this bout is unlikely to go the distance. 

Considering the last match between these two was called prematurely, there is little history to refer to in predicting how this match will go. However, while Edwards enters as the favourite the challenger cannot be ruled out. 

Muhammad’s 23-3--0 record includes 10 wins in his last 10 fights thanks to his unorthodox style and powerful striking ability. He is also more than comfortable fighting up close and possesses one of the strongest jaws in the weight class. 

Expect the American to look for the takedown here and if he can nullify Edwards’ striking game, he could easily come out on top in this bout.
