Lauren Davis vs Camila Giorgi Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Birmingham

Third seeded Camila Giorgi takes on unseeded Lauren Davis in round two of the Birmingham Classic. The Italian is ranked 26th in the world and has reached the last 16 in her past two tournaments. The first of those was at Roland Garros and then last week, she reached the same stage in the grass court event held in Nottingham. Giorgi has had success on this surface and got to the last eight at Wimbledon in 2018. Last year saw Giorgi beat Karolina Pliskova and Aryna Sabalenka in Eastbourne before retiring injured in her semi-final. One ATP Tour title has been won on grass, that was seven years ago in the Netherlands. Giorgi beat Teresa Martincova in straight sets to reach the second round of this tournament.

Lauren Davis is the world number 108 but was as high as 26th five years ago. The American has been slipping down the rankings in recent weeks and was 82nd two months ago. Davis had a tight match in the first round with a straight sets win over Kaja Juvan but both sets were won on tie-breaks. The 28-year-old has never made it past the third round at Wimbledon with four first or second round exits and twice failing to get through the qualifying rounds. Her grass court season for 2022 began with a loss in the last 32 in Nottingham to Caroline Garcia. She does have a 4-1 lead over Giorgi in previous meetings. However, none were on this surface and their last match was five years ago. Giorgi has improved a great deal since then and can get the win here.
