Laura Siegemund vs Liudmila Samsonova Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Stuttgart Open

Laura Siegemund bids to reach the semi-finals of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. The German has to get past unseeded Liudmila Samsonova to set up a semi-final against either top seed Iga Swiatek or Emma Raducanu. Last year saw Siegemund undergo knee surgery, hence her drop down the rankings. Siegemund received a wild card to play in Stuttgart and has made the most of it. The world number 231 beat Tamara Zidansek in straight sets in the first round. That was followed by her causing a big shock when defeating fourth seeded Maria Sakkari, The first set was won 6-4 and Siegemund was 3-1 up in the second set when her Greek opponent retired due to illness. Before this event, the German had only won one of her last five matches. Her best performance of the year had been a quarter final of an ITF tour event held in Portugal. Last week saw her face Elena Rybakina in the Billie Jean King and lost, winning just one game. Two years ago, Siegemund made it to the last eight at Roland Garros. Two WTA tour titles have been won on clay and 12 on the ITF circuit, so clay is obviously a surface the 34-year-old has talent on.

Liudmila Samsonova is the world number 31, a rise of seven places since the year began. A win over Siegemund would see her go up to 25th in the live rankings and that'd beat her career high of 30. Samsonova has won two ITF circuit titles on clay but never reached a final on the WTA Tour. Nor has Samsonova won a main draw match in the French Open and lost in the first qualifying round last year. Her best performances this year have been a quarter final in Adelaide and getting to the last 16 at Indian Wells. This week has seen improved form with a 6-0 6-0 win over qualifier Chloe Paquet in the first round. It's been a bit tougher since then but Samsonova beat sixth seeded Karolina Pliskova 6-4 6-4 in round two to reach the last eight. This isn't easy to predict so low stakes time. A bet on Samsonova is recommended and this match going to three sets.
