Sixth seeded Laura Pigossi takes on unseeded Francesca Jones for a place in the last four of the Copa Colsanitas. This is an outdoor clay court tournament and the winner could face defending champion and second seeded Tatjana Maria in the semi-finals. Pigossi began this tournament ranked 101st, just one place below her career high of 100th achieved last August. This run to the last eight in Bogota hasn't resulted in a new career high as she's down to 124th in the live rankings. That's because Pigossi is defending the points earned when reaching the final of this tournament last year. The 28-year-old is bidding to reach her second semi-final of the year, having got to that stage in a WTA 125 event held in Colombia which was also played on clay. This week has seen the Brazilian drop just one game in round one but then have to go to a final set to defeat qualifier Natalija Stevanovic.

British player Francesca Jones got into this tournament on a protected ranking. The week began with her way down in 817th postiion in the rankings. Reaching the last eight in Bogota has seen her rise to 493rd and a win over Pigossi can take her as high as 386th. Jones was as high as 149th in February 2022  Last year saw her play just two tournaments in Australia but the rest of the year was spent injured. This year has seen her reach one ITF quarter final. This week is her first WTA event since the 2022 Australian Open and the 22-year-old has had two straight sets wins with only four games lost in her last three sets. Round one saw her beat third seeded Nuia Parrizas Diaz. Pigossi has a great record in this tournament and can get the win.
