For the first time since 2023, Laslo Djere has reached an ATP Tour final. The unseeded player faces the defending champion and third seed Sebastian Baez in the Chile Open final. Here’s our match prediction.

Djere has made a strong start to this year’s clay court season. One semi-final in Buenos Aires had already been reached before this run to the final in Santiago. The 29-year-old is 83d in the live rankings.

Saturday’s semi-final saw Djere beat the top seed Francisco Cerundolo in three sets. He only dropped one game in the first set, lost that lead but won the decider 6-3. He also beat fourth seed Pedro Martinez in round two of this outdoor clay court tournament.

Sebastian Baez leads Djere 2-0 in previous meetings, one on clay in this tournament two years ago..

2024 saw Baez win the tournament in Rio and then make it back-to-back successes with a title win in Santiago. He’s won the Rio tournament again this year and is one victory away from doing the double again.

The Argentinian is 34th in the live rankings and Saturday’s straight sets win over Camilo Ugo Carabelli made it 12 wins out of 14 on clay this year. Only one set has been lost by him this week and we tip him to win this final.
