Laslo Djere and Ricardas Berankis will on Tuesday meet in the first round of the Libema Open. The winner here will advance to play fourth seed Alex de Minaur in the second round. Djere will hope he finally has a decent run on grass as he graces this tournament. He has always struggled on grass and comes in with a record of three wins and 10 losses since making his debut 10 years ago. However, having defeated Berankis twice in the three matches they have contested, he will be confident of a win here. The two players have never battled each other on grass. Djere is having a rocky season; he has won four more matches than he has lost. His last match saw him suffer his 14th loss of the season as he was eliminated in the first round at the French Open. The Serb is currently ranked 65th in the live ranking which is a five-place drop.

Berankis is up 11 places to number 201 in the live ranking. This is after he qualified for the main draw here in what is his debut at Hertogenbosch. Berankis won both his qualifiers without dropping a set and beat Rinky Hijikata in his last match. The win was his 20th out of 31 matches so far. His form has lifted him to one title in Saint-Brieuc in the challenger circuit where he has mostly competed. The Lithuanian is a decent performer on grass and since making his debut in 2007, has compiled a record of 34 wins and 26 losses on the surface. Though it is eight years now since Berankis defeated Djere, he will be confident of replicating that here with the surface favouring him.
