Fifth seed Laslo Djere and third seed Pedro Cachin will lock horns on Thursday at the 2023 Generali Open quarterfinals. Laslo Djere has been in impeccable form in what is his fourth appearance in Kitzbuhel. He has won his two rounds without dropping a set. The Serb is now one win away from equaling his best-ever finish here. Both his matches however have required a tiebreak and in his last match, it was in the first set against Thiago Seyboth Wild. Djere has excelled again on clay where the majority, 18, of his 27 victories this year have come. He arrived here after his finals run in Hamburg. This was his first tour final in almost a year and his second final of the season. The 28-year-old is currently ranked 35th in the live ranking.

Pedro Cachin is also having an amazing clay court campaign. This has allowed him to set a new career-high world ranking. He is up two places to number 47 in the live ranking. Cachin has won 25 of the 26 victories he has managed this season on clay. The latest of which was a 2-0 success over Albert Ramos Vinolas in the second round. This was the eighth win in his last 10 matches on clay. With this form, the Argentine will be confident of another win against Djere. The two have played each other once before with Cachin winning on clay in Gstaad back in 2015. Cachin’s form on clay has seen him win his first tour title. Last month he prevailed against all odds to triumph at the Swiss Open. He is making his main draw debut in Kitzbuhel. The winner of this mouthwatering tie will play either wildcard Dominic Thiem or the unseeded Arthur Rinderknech in the semifinals.
