Fourth seeded Laslo Djere hopes he won't become the latest player to be beaten by Alex Michelsen. The pair meet in the third round of the outdoor hard court Winston Salem Open with a quarter final place up for grabs. The winner will be up against either ninth seeded Aleksandar Vukic or the sixth seed Sebastian Baez. Djere is 34th in the latest ranking list and that's 99 places above his opponent. With Struff and Shapovalov not playing in the US Open this year, Djere has just squeezed into the seedings in 32nd place. This week has seen him get a straight sets win over unseeded Facundo Diaz Acosta winning each set 6-3. That was his first hard court win since the first round of the Miami Masters in March.  He'll look to recapture the form that took him to the last eight in Auckland and he had a win over Casper Ruud last week.  His most recent tournament was in Cincinnati where he lost to Thanasi Kokkinakis in the first qualifying round.

Alex Michelsen is definitely a name to put in your notebook. The 18-year-old is up to 128th in the live rankings after reaching this third round and that's a new career high for the teenager. He received a wild card to play in this tournament and has also been given one for the US Open. Michelsen beat Juan Pablo Virallas in three sets in the first round. He followed that up with a straight sets win over 15th seed Sebastian Ofner. Michelsen has had plenty of success this year on the lesser tours but did get to the final of the Hall of Fame grass court event in Newport last month.
