They are second in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference and host Minnesota Timberwolves, bottom of the Northwest Division in the same conference. The Clippers are one win behind division leaders Phoenix Suns who lost their most recent match. A win over the struggling Timberwolves would see them level on games won but still second. That's because they will have played three games more than the Suns. The Clippers are third overall in the Western Conference table with a 39-19 record. They lost their most recent match by three points to Philadelphia 76ers, who top the Eastern Conference. They got off to a slow start in that match losing the first quarter by 11 points. Before that defeat, the Clippers had won their last seven matches. Home form has seen them win 22 of their 30 matches with four of the last five won.

It's been a rotten season for the Minnesota Timberwolves with a 15-42 record going into this game. They sit rock bottom of the Northwest Division with five wins less than the Oklahoma City Thunder who are fourth in the division. In the overall Western Conference table, only the Houston Rockets are below them. They won their last match against the Miami Heat, but they're in bad form at present having lost their last three games. Before that, the Timberwolves had lost three of their last four. On the road, they have had a real nightmare with just five out of 28 being won. They have lost their last five away matches but only by 39 points and took the Boston Celtics to overtime in their most recent away match. Go for the Clippers to win on a -4.5 point handicap.
