Kyle Edmund vs Novak Djokovic Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Wimbledon Championships
by Steve Ashfield | in ATP Wimbledon Championships Predictions
It's not been a great week for British tennis and by the end of Thursday's play, Kyle Edmund was their only player left in the singles draws at Wimbledon. Whether there will be one in the second week of Wimbledon remains to be seen as Edmund has to take on former champion Novak Djokovic. Edmund has been climbing the rankings for the past year or so and is seeded 21st for this tournament. He's already reached one Grand Slam semi-final this year doing so in Australia. Last week he beat Andy Murray in straight sets in the Eastbourne tournament even though grass isn't supposed to be his strongest surface. So far at Wimbledon he hasn't lost a set in his first two rounds but has only faced a couple of qualifiers. Now comes the big test as he takes on Novak Djokovic, but he has already beaten him on clay this year.
Djokovic is a three-time champion at Wimbledon and is seeded 12th for this tournament despite being four places below his opponent in the latest ATP rankings. He's making his way back up the rankings after time out with injury and is steadlly making progress. Djokovic reached the quarter finals at the French Open and lost in the final of the recent grass tournament at Queen's. He has had few problems making it to the third round at Wimbledon with two straight sets wins and only once in the last nine Wimbledon tournaments has he failed to reach at least the quarter finals. Edmund will have the crowd behind him but he hasn't got a great deal of experience on this surface and this is the first time he has made it through to the third round. Djokovic is going to be a threat in this tournament and can end the young British player's hopes of making the second week for the first time.

Our Kyle Edmund vs Novak Djokovic Prediction
British hopes are totally in the hands of Kyle Edmund after a series of early round defeats but he will do well to get to the second week of Wimbledon. He has beaten Djokovic but that was on clay and Edmund doesn't have a great record on grass but is improving. Whether he has improved enough to beat a former three-time winner who is showing better form as the year goes by remains to be seen. It's doubtful though even with the crowd on his side, go for Djokovic to win this match.
