Last season’s finalists Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will renew their rivalry as they meet in match #15 of IPL 2025. This match on Thursday at the KKR home venue of Eden Gardens in Kolkata comes with our prediction of SRH scoring more powerplay runs.
KKR have two points from three matches and are bottom of the points tally, while SRH also have two points but are marginally above them due to a better run rate.
Kolkata started the season with a seven-wicket loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru at this venue. They did have a brief rebound when they won by eight wickets against Rajasthan in Guwahati but fell to an eight-wicket loss to Mumbai on Monday.
The loss to Mumbai highlighted their batting concerns, as only Quinton de Kock (102) aggregates more than 100 runs in the season. The bowlers have been guilty of being ineffective, with no one taking more than two wickets in any innings.
Sunrisers are in a bigger mess, having lost their last two matches to Lucknow (five wickets) and Delhi (seven wickets). Those losses erased the positives of starting the season with a thumping 44-run win over Rajasthan.
Yet, three SRH batters aggregate more than 100 runs, and all those strike at more than a 190 strike rate, giving them an edge.
