Punjab Kings will look to stay in the IPL 2025 playoffs race as they travel to face a struggling Kolkata Knight Riders side in fixture #44 on Saturday. This match at the Eden Gardens between the seventh-placed KKR and the fifth-placed PBKS comes with our prediction of an away win.
The Knight Riders have six points (W3, L5) and are four points behind their visitors Punjab (W5, L3), who are just outside the playoff spots.
Kolkata lost by 39 runs to Gujarat Titans last Monday at this venue to lose two games in a row. Incidentally, the other loss was to Punjab, by 16 runs in Mullanpur.
The defending champions have struggled to lift their game at home, losing three of their four home matches this season. Their only win has come against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, whom they defeated by 80 runs in fixture #15 earlier this month.
Punjab were beaten by RCB by seven wickets last Sunday and had nearly a week to work on their problems. That result halted a two-game winning run for the Kings, who defeated Kolkata and Bengaluru before that.
The reverse fixture was won by Punjab by 16 runs in what was an IPL classic. After scoring a mere 111 runs, the Kings’ bowlers, led by Yuzvendra Chahal (4 for 28), stifled KKR to 95 all out.
