This could be an emotional match as 17th seeded Kiki Bertens plays at Wimbledon for the last time. She takes on Maria Kostyuk who is ranked 70th in the world but is the favourite to win this match. Bertens has had plenty of injuries in the past year and has announced she'll be retiring after the Tokyo Olympics. The Dutch player had Achilles Tendon surgery towards the end of last year and didn't play in a tournament this year until March. It's been a hugely disappointing time for her with a series of bad losses and in terms of ranking points earned this year, Bertens is 164th, Bertens got to the last eight at Wimbledon in 2018 but she's never made it to the fourth round in her other seven visits.

Maria Kostyuk is a teenager no more. She celebrated her 20th birthday on Monday 28 June and will hope for more celebrations in this first round match at Wimbledon. It's her first time in the main draw and while Bertens is 164th in the WTA Race, Kostyuk is 38th. She's climbed 29 places in the main rankings and in June 2020, she was down at 141st in the world. Higlights of this year have been a semi-final in Abu Dhabi and also Istanbul and the last 16 at Roland Garros where she beat Garbine Muguruza. Back Kostyuk to get a late birthday present with her first win at Wimbledon.
