Third seeded Ugo Humbert takes on wild card Kevin Anderson in the last eight of the Hall of Fame Open. The winner will take on either second seed Adrian Mannarino or Jordan Thompson who is seeded seventh for this grass court tournament. Humbert began this tournament ranked 40th so will be looking for some good results in the coming weeks and hopefully be seeded at the US Open. The French player will move up to 38th if winning this match. Humbert only won one of his four matches played in the European grass court season. He was beaten in a five-setter by Jason Kubler in the first round at Wimbledon. He previously reached the fourth round there in 2019 and two years ago won the Halle Open. He's shown better form in this Hall of Fame Open with a straight sets win over Steve Johnson, winning both sets 6-4.

Kevin Anderson is a former Wimbledon finalist so certainly knows his way around a grass court. Now aged 37 years of age, he's only just made his return to the ATP Tour circuit after retiring in May of last year. He was ranked 107th at the time of his retirement but was ranked fifth in 2018, the year he lost in the Wimbledon final. Anderson was given a wild card to play in this tournament, which he won two years ago. The South African has had two wins without dropping a set. Round one saw him beat Gabriel Dallo for the loss of five games. it was tougher in the second round Giys Brouwer and needed a tie-break to complete his victory.
