Third seed Elena Rybakina continues with her Wimbledon title defence on Saturday against wildcard Katie Boulter. The winner of this third-round tie will play either 13th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia or Sorana Cirstea next. Boulter defeated unseeded Viktoriya Tomova 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 to advance to this round. It was the first time she was dropping a set in the competition. The Brit has now equaled her best-ever result here set last season. The win, which is her 10th on grass, moved her 18 places to 71st in the live ranking. This is a career high placing for Boulter who has won 29 of the 40 matches she has played this season. Boulter has won two titles this year, the latest being the Nottingham Open last month. This was her first tour-level success and tightened her hold as Britain’s number one.

Elena Rybakina became the youngest female Wimbledon champion since 2011 when she defeated Ons Jabeur last season. She is looking to defend her crown and has a good job thus far. The Kazakh has won her two rounds by dropping one set. To advance to this round, she defeated Alize Cornet in straight sets of 6-2, 7-6. This was her 33rd win of the season and the third in four outings on grass. Rybakina’s form this year has seen her advance to four finals, one Grand Slam, and three WTA 1000. She has ended up victorious twice and this has seen her break into the WTA top 10. Rybakina is currently ranked fourth in the live ranking.
