Karolina Pliskova vs Viktorija Golubic Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Wimbledon Championships

Karolina Pliskova is back in the top ten thanks to her run to the Wimbledon quarter final. The eighth seed takes on unseeded Viktorija Golublic for a place in the last four against either Arayna Sabalenka or Ons Jabeur. Pliskova recently dropped out of the top ten but is up to eighth if winning this match. Four years ago, Pliskova was the world number one but this is her first time in the last eight at Wimbledon. 2021 began with her ranked sixth in the world but it's not been too successful a year for her. A series of losses to Jessica Pegula has hindered her season but then she got to the final of the Rome Masters clay court tournament. That earned her lots of ranking points but she failed to win a game as she was beaten by Iga Swiatek. A fourth loss of the year to Pegula ended her grass court tournament in Berlin. Pliskova only got to the last 32 at Eastbourne but she's been in much better form at Wimbledon. She is yet to drop a set in the tournament nd beat Luidmila Samsonova in the last 16.

Viktorija Golubic is hoping to follow up her win in the one match played against Pliskova, five years ago in the Fed Cup. Golubic is ranked 66th but up to a career best 47th in the live ranking. Her year has been spent flitting between the ITF and WTA circuit. Two finals were reached, both seeing her lose to Clara Tauson. An ITF title was won in Grenoble and then she got to the final in Monterrey before another title was won in Saint-Malo. Her best performance in three grass court tournaments was a last eight in Eastbourne, where she beat Belinda Bencic. Before this year, Golubic had never got past the third round at Wimbledon. Another early exit looked possible but she beat Veronika Kudermetova 11-9 in the final set. Her next three wins have all come in straight sets. This is going to be tough though and Pliskova can get the win.
