Karolina Muchova vs Taylor Townsend Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA US Open

Tenth seed Karolina Muchova has no seeded players between her and the US Open quarter finals. The last 32 sees her up against Taylor Townsend with the winner facing either Xin Wang or AK Shcmiedlova. It may well get tougher in the last eight with possible opponents being either Elena Rybakina or Belinda Bencic. Muchova has already reached the Roland Garros final this year (losing to Iga Swiatek) but has had success on hard courts too. Recently the Czech made it to the final of the Western & Southern Open and that took her into the top ten for the first time. Reaching the third round of the US Open has seen her rise to ninth place. Winning this match will take her into the fourth round at Flushing Meadows for only the second time, the other occasion being in 2020. So far in New York, Muchova has had two straight sets wins and only dropped ten games in doing so.

Taylor Townsend was ranked 132nd in the world at the start of this US Open. The American is better known as a doubles player and is currently ranked fifth. It's gone better for her in the singles ranks though this week and Townsend is up to 101st in the live rankings. Her career high is 61st but that was achieved five years ago. The 27-year-old reached the fourth round of the US Open in 2019 but this is only the third time that she's reached round three in a Grand Slam singles tournament. Townsend has had wins over Varvara Gracheva and 19th seeded Beatriz Haddad Maia to reach the last 32.  it's a big improvement after failing to qualify for her last two tournaments. This is her first match against Muchova and we believe that it's the Czech who can get a straight sets win.
