Fifth seed Qinwen Zheng has made it to the semi-finals of the China Open and will battle world-number 49 Karolina Muchova. This will be their second match of the year and we have a prediction.

Another win for Zheng will see her take on Cori Gauff or Paula Badosa in the final on home soil. Karolina Muchova will be seeking revenge against Zheng. The Czech player, who is having a terrific season, lost to Zheng in the final in Palermo back in July.

The loss continued her disappointing run in finals. To book her third semi-final of the season, the 28-year-old defeated top seed Aryna Sabalenka in three sets.

Her third successive win against the world number two improved her record to 17-5 and propelled her to 36th in the live ranking.

Qinwen Zheng tied this series with Muchova at 1-1 with her success in Palermo. Another win here will see her take the lead in this fixture and also get her into the first WTA 1000 final.

Zheng has been incredible this season, her best at tour level. The Chinese number one has broken into the WTA top 10 and solidified her place. Currently ranked seventh in the world, she has two titles and finished as runner-up once.

A finalist at the Australian Open, Zheng followed up her Palermo success with a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. To make it to the last four, the 21-year-old, on a 41-14 record, battled through three sets against Mirra Andreeva.

She mounted a comeback against the exciting Russian teenager. Zheng has fought back from a first-set loss in each of her last two ties.
