Karolina Muchova begins her Ningbo Open campaign with a first round match against qualifier Olivia Gadecki. The winner of this match will take on second seed Qinwen Zheng in round two of this indoor hard court tournament. Here's our match protection.

Muchova is the world number 29 and will want to continue the form that saw her get to the final in her last tournament. That was the China Open, where Muchova lost to Coco Gauff but wins included victories over Aryna Sabalenka and Qinwen Zheng.

The 28-year-old also made it to the semi-finals of this year's US Open and the final of a clay court event. The Czech is making up for lost time after injury caused her to miss the first half of this year. Despite that she's 28th in the WTA Live Race.

Olivia Gadecki is at 84th in the latest rankings but a place higher in the live rankings and that equals her career-high. The 22-year-old had to qualify to get into the main draw of this tournament and did so without dropping a set in her two matches.

Gadecki recently reached the final of the WTA Tour hard court tournament held in Guadalajara. Her next event though saw her fail to get through the qualifying rounds so the Australian will welcome her two wins so far in Ningbo.
