Jasmine Paolini will continue with her US Open campaign against unseeded Karolina Muchova in the fourth round. This marks their second meeting at Flushing Meadows and we have a prediction for the match.

Muchova is defending the 780 points she won here last year in her run to the semi-finals. She has been in splendid form in her quest, winning three matches without dropping a set. The Czech player spent 10 months out with injury immediately after her semi-final run last season.

She returned to the tour in June and has so far compiled a 10-4 record. Muchova defeated Anastasia Potapova in the last round, following up on her second-round victory over two-time US Open champion Naomi Osaka.

Currently placed 121st in the live ranking, Muchova has never lost against Paolini. One of her wins came in the qualifying rounds here in 2018.

Paolini is having a spectacular year and arrives for this match eyeing a first win over Muchova. The Italian has compiled a 36-15 record and reached the final in each of her last two major appearances.

She finished as runner-up at the French Open to record her best-ever result at a Grand Slam and replicated the feat at Wimbledon. This form has propelled her to put up another career-high record in New York.

Before this season, Paolini had never won more than one main draw match at Flushing Meadows. The 28-year-old, who has moved up to fourth in the live ranking, defeated Yulia Putintseva in the third round. She won by the loss of seven games.

The winner here will play Caroline Wozniacki or Beatriz Haddad Maia in the quarter-finals.
