Top seed Karen Kachanov bids to reach the final of the Zhuhai Championships. The Russian takes on fourth seed Sebastian Korda in a tournament where at the time of writing, all four top seeds remain in the event. Khachanov was ranked 15th at the start of this outdoor hard court tournament. Winning the title will see him rise to 14th in the next list. He's 14th in the ATP Live Race but with little chance of reaching the end-of-season Tour Finals. Due to injury this is only the second tournament that the 27-year-old has played since getting to the last eight at Roland Garros. The other was the US Open where he was beaten in the first round by Michael Mmoh in straight sets. This is his third hard court semi-final of the year, the other two being reached in the Australian Open (where he beat Korda) and the Miami Masters.

Sebastian Korda is the fourth seed in Zhuhai. The American was ranked 33rd in the last list but he's up to 28th in the live rankings. He's also had injury problems this year and had to retire in his match against Khachanov in Australia. That kept him off court for three months and he struggled to get wins on his return. Last month saw him reach the last four in Winston Salem before withdrawing from the tournament. He then lost in the first round of the US Open. Two matches have been won in Zhuhai. Alexandre Muller took him to three sets but he then beat fifth seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry for the loss of only three games. it's 2-2 in previous meetings with Kachanov but we believe the Russian can win this match.
