Juncheng Shang is ranked 50th in the world and the 19-year-old has won one ATP Tour event this year. His opening match in this indoor hard court tournament saw him beaten three sets to one by the sixth seed Luca Van Assche.

Matches in this tournament are played over the best of five sets. However, rather than six games to win a set, it's only four in this tournament which is being played by the top eight players aged 20 or under.
