There are no seeds remaining in the Hong Kong Tennis Open. This semi-final sees Kei Nishikori take on Junchen Shang for a place in the final of this outdoor hard court tournament. Time for our match prediction.
These two players are battling it out for the right to meet either Alexandre Muller or Jaume Munar in the final. Kei Nishikori has been one of the big surprises this week and is up to 83rd in the live rankings.
The Japanese player turned 35 at the end of last month. His last ATP Tour final was back in 2019 though he has won a couple of Challenger Tour events in 2023 and 2024. This week has seen him defeat Denis Shapovalov, third seed Karen Khachanov (after losing the first set) and Cameron Norrie in three sets.
Juncheng Shang had plenty of success last year but the final few weeks were a bit of a struggle. The 19-year-old qualified for the Next Gen finals but lost all three of his group matches and had to retire in the final one due to illness.
He looks to be back in the form that won him the Chengdu Open last September. He's beaten Coleman Wong, seventh seed Pedro Martinez and Fabian Marozsan. We go for over 20.5 games to be played.
