The much-anticipated UFC 307 is almost upon us, and in the build-up to the headline event of the night, we will see two giants of the Bantamweight division locking horns as the Brazilian Jose Aldo battles against the American Mario Bautista. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Jose Aldo will have more than twice the professional fighting experience on his side coming into this bout and has seven UFC title defences and two WEC title defences under his belt in his illustrious 32-8 career.
The Brazilian has maintained one of the best takedown defences in MMA history. However, he will need to take the fight to Bautista and control the pace if he hopes to maintain any sort of dominance in a matchup.
‘Junior’ is seven years older than Bautista and significantly shorter at 1.70m, but he has a slightly longer reach at 177cm, which will favour his usual Muay Thai striking and vicious leg-kick style of approach.
Mario Bautista, however, is currently at the peak of his game and in prime condition, with six straight wins coming into this one. Not to mention, he will have the roar of his hometown crowd behind him down in Utah.
Still, he will face his greatest challenge to date and will know that nothing less than a win is required of him if he hopes to challenge for the title at some point in his career.
While Bautista lacks experience in a fight like this, he does possess superior striking speed and accuracy compared to Aldo. Versatility is also on his side, as he is afraid to take the fight to the mat with great effect, with three of his last six wins having ended by way of submission.
