Jordan Thompson vs Yoshihito Nishioka Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Atlanta Open

Thompson is the only remaining seed in the Atlanta Open. He pulled out of the Olympics but now has the chance to win an ATP Tour title if beating unseeded Yoshihito Nishioka. Here's our prediction of who we think will win this match.

The Australian is in his fourth ATP Tour final and his second of this year. He won the Los Cabos tournament earlier this year and that was played on a hard court, the surface for this final. Thompson is up to 33rd on the live list.

Winning this final will take him to 29th and put him in line to be seeded at the upcoming US Open. His Atlanta campaign began with a straight sets win over Harold Mayot. Since then, he's had to go to a final set to beat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and in the last four, Juncheng Shang.

Yoshihito Nishioka is in his sixth ATP Tour final with two titles won, the last being in 2022. The world number 86 is 57th in the live rankings and becoming champion will see him go up to 50th. That's still well below the career high of 24th he achieved last year.

This week has seen him get to the final with just one set dropped. That was in Saturday's semi-final when beating Arthur Rinderknech, losing the middle one.  His biggest scalp came in the last eight (his first hard court quarter-final of the year) when beating third seed Frances Tiafoe. 

This is his eighth match against Thomson and he leads him 7-1 but this is only their second match since 2019. We tip there to be three sets to be played as has been the case in the last four played between these two players.
