Jordan Thompson vs Kei Nishikori Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Atlanta Open

The round of 32 in the ATP Atlanta Open sees Aussie Jordan Thompson facing off against Japanese Kei Nishikori. Thompson, who currently holds the 63rd position in the ATP rankings, was eliminated from Wimbledon in the second round by Novak Djokovic in the beginning on July. After that, he competed in the Hall of Fame Championships at Newport. The 29-year-old won his first two matches in that event before being bounced out in the quarter-final by 27th-ranked Adrian Mannarino. Thompson’s last 10 outings have seen him win five and lose five, all of which were played on grass. While his recent results on grass might be mixed, Thompson has experienced recent success playing on a hard surface. The Australian was crowned champion of the 2023 Gwangju Open Challenger event back in May, defeating countryman Max Purcell in the final. Thompson arguably performs his best on hard courts where he has posted a career record of 242-156 (277-172 when including indoor hard court matches).

Kei Nishikori comes into this bout off the back of quarter-final elimination in the Chicago Challenger event in mid-July. He currently holds the 438th position in the ATP rankings, a long way off his career high of fourth that he achieved in 2015.  His last event was the Chicago Challenger tournament in mid-July where he was eliminated in the quarter-final by 190th-ranked Alex Michelsen. It was Nishikori’s 26th consecutive competitive outing on a hard court surface where he has experienced recent success. The 33-year-old took down the Palmas del Mar event back in June, dropping only a single set in his five wins en route to the title. Nishikori overall has performed very well on a hard court throughout his career as he has amassed a 289-135 (68.16%) on the surface.
