Jordan Thompson is the fourth seed for the Atlanta Open which is being played on a hard court. The Australian faces lucky loser Harold Mayot for a place in the last eight. On this page we'll preview this match and make our prediction.

Thompson is the world number 41 but was a career-high 32nd in February of this year. He will be in the Paris Olympics tournament but that's being played on clay at Roland Garros. Thompson will be looking to recapture the form shown in February.

That was when he made it to the final of the Los Cabos hard court tournament and that included a win over Alexander Zverev. He reached two other hard court quarter finals that month but struggled for the rest of the hard court swing. Thompson received a bye into this second round.

Harold Mayot wasn't expecting to be playing in the second round of this tournament. That's because the Frenchman lost to Billy Harris in the final qualifying round. That followed him having to go to three sets to get past Emilio Nava in his first qualifier.

Mayot's time in the tournament wasn't over as the world number 122 was reinstated into the main draw as a lucky loser. That saw him take on Borna Coric in round one and he won that match in straight sets. He's now up to 114th in the live rankings but we tip Thompson to end his run.
