John Isner vs Marin Cilic Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP US Open

It's not been a great year for John Isner.  2018 saw him reach the Wimbledon semi-final and the quarter finals at Flushing Meadow. His last eight appearance in the US Open last year was his first since 2011 and only the third of hs career in Grand Slams. The American hasn't been able to build on those performances in 2019. He was knocked out in the first round in Australia, missed the French Open and then suffered a first round loss at Wimbledon.  Those results have seen him drop out of the top ten this year. His best performances this year were losing in the final of the Miami Open to Roger Federer and winning  the Hall of Fame Open in Newport, USA, but that was a grass tournament and the highest ranked player he beat was world number 48 Ugo Humbert. Isner has yet to beat a top 20 ranked player all year. To reach the third round here, he has beaten a qualifier and Jan-Lennard Struff.

Marin Ciic is the 22nd ranked player. He beat Martin Klizan in the first round in straight sets but then had to come from a set down to defeat Cedric-Marcel Stebe in the second round. Cilic won this tournament in 2014, one of the rare times in recent years a Grand Slam tournament wasn't won by Djokovic, Federer, Nadal or Murray. Last year he lost in the quarter finals to Kei Nishikori in five sets. This year, Cilic reached the fourth round of the Australian Open but was knocked out in the second round at both Paris and Wimbledon. Recent tournaments have seen Cilic reach the quarter finals in Washington.  This should be a cracker of a game and the tip is for over 3.5 sets to be played in this match.
