John Isner vs Gael Monfils Prediction & Betting Tips - Toronto, Canada

John Isner has been climbing up the rankings of late. He can rise higher than his current 30th if beating Gaels Monfils in the last eight of the National Bank Open. The former world number eight had slipped to 38th in April after beginning the year in 25th place. He made it to the last eight in Madrid but then moved up a gear last month. July saw him get to the semi-final in Los Cabos and he then won the title in Atlanta. A typical Isner performance with six tie-breaks that week. In Toronto this week he has continued his good form with wins over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Cristian Garin (after losing the first set) and then fourth seed Andrey Rublev 7-5 7-6. Isner trails Monfils 7-5 in previous meetings between the pair. Monfils won four in a row between 2014 and 2018 but Isner won the most recent match two years ago. 12 previous matches have seen 13 tie-breaks, including one match that had three of them.

Gael Monfils is the 11th seed and began the week ranked 22nd. He's dropped 11 places in the rankings this year and is 110th in terms of ranking points earned this year, compared to 29th for his opponent. Monfils has had a terrible year with only three wins before this week. He was in trouble in his first match of this tournament after losing the first set to John Millman. Monfils recovered to win that match and then beat lucky loser Frances Tiafoe in the third round. Isner is the man in form here, back him to get the win.
