Unseeded Jodie Burrage and wildcard Katie Boulter will on Sunday meet in the final of the WTA Nottingham Open. The match will represent both players’ first career tour-level final. Jodie Burrage defeated Alize Cornet in straight sets to reach the final. It was the second 2-0 win in her four matches and her 17th overall win of the campaign. The Brit has won four of the five fixtures she has contested on grass. She is now through to her 15th career final and second on the surface. Burrage has played two finals already this year and won in Croissy-Beaubourg in the ITF circuit. The 24-year-old has lost more finals than she has won in her career. She’s lost both matches she has played against Boulter with one being a final. Advancing to the final has catapulted her 23 places in the live ranking to number 108.

Katie Boulter has also had a massive leap in the live ranking after reaching the final. She is now up to number 97 which is an improvement of 29 places. Boulter has torn through her opponents at this competition. She has won her four matches without dropping a set. To advance to the final, the Brit got the better of qualifier Heather Watson. This was her 26th win of the season out of 35 matches played, with seven of those victories coming on grass. Boulter arrived in Nottingham after her semifinal elimination in Surbiton. She has played two finals this season and defeated Burrage in Canberra in January for her only title win so far.
