Unseeded Jiri Lehecka will seek his first win against ninth seed Taylor Fritz when the two battle on Tuesday at the Cincinnati Masters. This will be a first round match. Jiri Lehecka has lost both encounters with Fritz. The latest meeting between the two was earlier this year in Monte-Carlo. As the Czech has been in decent form this year and has excelled on hard court, he will be confident of winning here. Lehecka has compiled a 30-20 record. Fifteen of his victories have come on hard court where he has taken to the court 24 times. The 21-year-old arrives to make his debut in Cincinnati after his second-round elimination at the Canadian Open. He is currently ranked 35th in the live ranking.

Taylor Fritz has started the week in ninth place in the ATP. He made the quarterfinals here last season which was his best ever finish and he will be out to eclipse this. Fritz is having an amazing season which has thus far produced two titles, all on hard court. The American won his latest tour title at the end of July in Atlanta. He followed this up with a semifinal finish in Washington but was eliminated in the third round in Toronto. Returning back to play on home soil will have him confident of adding to his 42 victories. The 25-year-old has compiled a 42-18 record with more than half, 26, of his victories coming on hard court. The winner here will play either the qualifier Alexander Shevchenko or the unseeded Lorenzo Sonego in the second round.
