Jiri Lehecka and Sebastian Korda will square off in the first round of the Monte Carlo Open. The two will be meeting for the second time and the winner will take on Bu Yunchaokete or Lorenzo Musetti next. Read on for our prediction of this match.

Lehecka has been on the drop since his Doha semi-final defeat by Jack Draper. The Czech player hasn’t been able to win more than a game at the three events that came after that defeat.

His year, which started on a high, has significantly slowed down and he is now on a 13-6 record. The clay season, however, offers a needed break. He has managed seven wins in the last 10 clay court matches.

Korda will arrive for this match having won three of his last four outings and will seek to keep rising here. The American had surgery to his elbow towards the end of 2024 and as such, had a slow start to 2025.

After 11 matches this season, he has a 6-5 record. His most recent outing was against Novak Djokovic in the Miami quarter-finals where he lost in straight sets.

Clay isn’t his preferred surface either, having not managed a winning run there in the last two seasons. In 2024 he managed a 5-5 record on clay, having posted 1-3 in 2023.
